How to be a digital citizen?

 

 

Digital Citizenship:
What is it?    
 Digital citizenship is defined as the norms of setting boundaries and behaving appropriately and responsibly with respect to the use of technology. The use of technological means had become an increasingly common phenomenon among students which emphasizes the importance of involving teaching the ways of being a digital citizen in the school curricula for students to be equipped with the required skills to succeed as a lifetime learners.                                                                       

What can I do to be a good digital citizen? 

5 Personal Responsibilities of Digital Citizenship: 

 

  1.  Remember the golden rule:  
    •  treat people the way you want to be treated
    • Ask yourself if you would be comfortable doing this in the real world
    • Ask yourself if you would change your behavior if it was associated with your name 
    • Consider how what you are doing reflects on you as a person
    • Check to see if what you are doing is legal     
  

  2.  Don’t Spread Gossip:  

    •  Be skeptical of what you read online
    •   Discern if the information from internet is true or false 
    •  Passing lightly on wrong information is bad   
Stay careful and aware because gossip can destroys a person's  reputation.      
 
 
3.       Keep Private Information Private:         
    •  Stay safe online
    • Think before you post or text
    • Spread heart, not hurt
    • Remember what goes around, comes around   
4.  Stand up to cyber-bullying
